Discipline of Chinese Medicine Practitioners
Under section
98 of the Chinese Medicine Ordinance, the Chinese Medicine Practitioners
Board of the Chinese Medicine Council is empowered to deal with disciplinary
matters of registered Chinese medicine practitioners. Registered Chinese
medicine practitioners are required to comply with the "Code of
Practice for Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners" as compiled
by the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board. If a registered Chinese
medicine practitioner is alleged to be guilty of misconduct in any professional
respect or has been convicted of any offence punishable with imprisonment,
the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board may hold inquiry and take disciplinary
action against the registered Chinese medicine practitioner concerned.
Disciplinary actions may include removing of the name of the practitioner
concerned from the Register of Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners,
reprimanding the practitioner or issuing of a warning letter to the
practitioner.
Listed Chinese medicine practitioners are also required
to comply with the "Code of Practice for Listed Chinese Medicine
Practitioners". If a listed Chinese medicine practitioner fails
to comply with the Code during his course of practice, the Chinese Medicine
Practitioners Board may remove from the list maintained by the Board
the name of the listed Chinese medicine practitioner concerned in accordance
with section 91 of the Chinese Medicine Ordinance.
